How to make the most of New Zealand's Cheapest Flight Deals

December 14, 2021

We like to keep things simple here at NZ Flight Club which is why we have just one goal: save you 20-90% off your next flight. We've put together the hot tips below to really help you make the most out of NZ's cheapest flight deals.

Hot Tip #1 - Sign up to NZ Flight Club

We might be a liiittle biased when it comes to this step but see for yourself. Airline pricing is incredibly complicated, with prices varying hundreds of dollars every day, hour and even minute.  Our state of the art software scans the Worlds largest flight database for heavily discounted cheap flights, mistake fares and other ways to save you cash, then our passionate team of flight hackers verify the very best cheap flight deals for you and send them directly to your inbox, saving you anywhere from 20 - 90% off your next flight. You can sign up to NZ Flight Club for free and receive one deal a week, no strings attached. Or join Premium for just $9 a month and receive 4X as many cheap flight deals, international & domestic flight deals plus many more perks - find out more here.

On average our premium members save over $300 a flight (more than 3X their yearly subscription) so if you are serious about saving money on flights for Mai Tai's on the beach, then you'll want to be involved. We believe this is the best step you can take in finding cheap flights from New Zealand

Hot Tip #2 - Be flexible on dates

One of the best ways to make the most from New Zealand's cheapest flight deals is by being flexible on when you want to travel. Work and family life obviously play a huge part in this, but doing what you can will make a huge difference to how much you can save on flights., those 'digital nomads' certainly have the right idea being able to work from their laptop in any country. The traditional steps to book a holiday look something like:
- Book time off work.
- Figure out where you want to go.
- Check prices and book flights.

To really make the most of NZ Flight Club deals and cheap flights in general, you need to flip that process on its head:

- Discover an amazing cheap flight deal.
- Figure out if you want to go.
- Book time off work.

Flight deals don't always occur during off peak season, in fact it's just as common to score a cheap flight deal during peak season as the off seasons. Incase you hadn't already figured it out, Airlines want to maximise their profits so the annual increased demand of peak season is accounted for by more planes flying the popular route. If for some reason the seats in these planes aren't filling up then they will be put on unadvertised sale to sell the seats, which is where we come in.

Another common misconceptions with cheap NZ flight deals is that they are always last minute. Gone are the days of turning up to the airport in your tuxedo last minute and scoring a cheap flight deal to Las Vegas, in fact most airlines massively ramp up their prices in the last few days as they know if people are looking at flights last minute they are likely to book them regardless of price. Most flight deals occur 4 - 8 months before departure, giving you plenty of time to tell Sharon from HR to clear your schedule, you're going the City of Love baby!

Hot Tip #3 - Be flexible on your (first) flight

Being flexible with your time is easy for some, but being flexible with your destination can be a struggle. If you have your heart set on eating Pizza in Naples, Italy on August 7th for your 30th birthday, then realistically you should book those flights as soon as possible because the chances are the price will only rise on that specific flight. If you have loose plans to travel to Europe for 3 months next year, then this is where NZ Flight Club can help you score a bargain. It's highly likely that cheap flights to Europe will get sent out to our members and whether it is Barcelona, Amsterdam or Athens you can start your trip here and fly or travel by train incredibly cheaply once in Europe, the key to cheap travel long distance is getting to the continent the cheapest way possible and starting your itinerary from there, domestic flights are often cheap and easy once you have arrived.

Also it's worth being flexible with dates either side of your flight departures, for example you could save a significant amount by travelling on a Tuesday rather than a Sunday. There isn't any magic day or time that travel is cheapest, so be sure to look around.

Hot Tip #4 - Take some cheap flight inspiration

"Montenegro? Never heard of it! Why would I want to go here?" Was my initial thought upon finding a $55 return fare from London many years ago. It turns out Montenegro is one of the most spectacular countries I've ever been to, mountainous backdrops straddling the beautiful Adriatic coastline between Croatia & Greece, the food is amazing and the people are wonderfull. I would have never been if I didn't take that flight deal and try somewhere new. So next time a cheap flight deal to somewhere new appears in your inbox, live a little.

Hot Tip #5 - Act fast

Airlines change there prices all the time, every day, hour and minute. If you receive an amazing NZ Flight Club cheap flight deal into your inbox then act fast and book the darn thing! If it's a greatdeal then the price will not stick around for long at all, so make sure it's you going on holiday to Bali for $439 return not seedy Graham from next door.
Most airlines will give you a "cooling off" period meaning you can cancel for free within 48 hours if you change your mind, plus due to the current travel situation lots of airlines are offering free flight changes, although you will have to pay the difference. These policies vary from airline to airline so its work checking with your airline).
